The Global Nomad
Posted on 10 March 2014
Where do you come from? It's not such an easy question to answer anymore. In collecting inspiration for the Global Nomadcollection, I wanted to draw from the cross-cultural experiences of my contemporaries while growing up. The new collection was inspired by the lives of the ‘kikokushijo’ or ‘third culture kids, who spend a great deal of their lives outside their parent country and are a close cousin of the 'hai gui' (sea turtles). They are the modern-day nomads, with rich cultural backgrounds, are highly mobile, have discerning tastes and the ability to make any place their home.
This collection captures their colourful journeys around the globe and is a celebration of some of the most beautiful sights I've been lucky to witness. Holi pink is an eye popping neon pink inspired by the explosion of bright Holi powder used in the Hindu Festival of Colours. Aegean Sea is reminiscent of the striking Grecian dome roofs and gleaming blue waters of the Aegean. We continue to carry the crowd-pleasers; Classic Red, Classic Black and Champagne.
