TJIN LEE - Managing Director of Mercury Marketing & Communications
How do you juggle your career, family and social life?
I am a huge advocate for women's entrepreneurship and work life balance. It doesn't mean working less hard, any one who has been through the journey of entrepreneuship can tell you it's a 110% grit and commitment, but it means being empowered to take control of your own timing to work when you choose, and prioritise the things that are important - like spending time with my son and my family.
What in your life has brought or given you the greatest satisfaction or fulfillment? Looking back, what would you have done differently and what will you do again?
Currently, I am launching a social impact business with two other co-founders called CRIB (Creating Responsible Innovative Businesses) which is a community, a matchmaker and incubator for women's entrepreneurship and empowerment. What I find very rewarding is the passionate response that most women have had to our cause, we feel like it really brings the community together.
What words of wisdom do you hold close to your heart?
I don't believe in making mistakes, I always look at them as lessons. It is important to learn from what goes wrong, pick yourself up and try again.

When things get tough, how do you keep yourself going?
Honestly, my answer may seem a little cliche, but it really is in the mind. Whatever good is happening to me, there's always someone else that's doing better. Vice versa. Whatever bad that has befallen me, there's someone out there who's getting it worse. When there's no comparison, there's very little space for self-victimisation. That's how I've mostly led my life all these years. Happiness comes from within, not from the satisfaction of material things, neither should a person rely on someone else to be happy. I've never been happier with life, I've learnt when life gives you a lemon, don't just make lemonade - bring out the salt and tequila and have a party!
What words of wisdom do you hold close to your heart?
When I was in Primary 4, daddy wrote in my autograph book always put yourself in other's shoes."Since then, I have always held onto those words. Of course, being a human being, we make mistakes and have our flaws, and often we allow ourselves to be led by our emotions. However, I've always been grateful for these words of wisdom my daddy has instilled in me since I was young. It really did keep me grounded in this whimsical entertainment industry.

How do you juggle your career, family and social life?
It's not easy I must admit, I have to give a lot of credit to my understanding family members, boyfriend and friends - I will be pilling my hair out without their understanding and help! I also have to practice a lot of time management, that means prioritizing what's important and leaning to let go and decline a couple of opportunities (to my dismay!).
What words of wisdom do you hold close to your heart?
I keep myself motivated with these two quotes: "You gotta do what you gotta do to do what you want to do"and "Work until your idols become your rivals."
